Xuexin (Nico) Li (Dancer, Company member since 2009) was born in China Mainland and started her formal training at the Performing Arts College of Chinese People’s Liberation Army (CPLA) in Beijing where she gained her high school diploma . At the age of 16, she began dancing professionally with Qianxian Dance Troup of CPLA where she was also assigned to be a repertory/rehearsal assistant. In 2005, Nico received a full scholarship from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore where she studied with a concentration on contemporary dance and choreography. Nico was the first student to be accepted to join in during her senior year to complete a BFA in Dance in 2009 at Purchase College (SUNY). Since being at Purchase, she has had the opportunity to work with world acclaimed choreographers and teachers. Nico has performed nationally in China as well as countries overseas such as the UK, Malta, Romania, Austria, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. This is Nico’s third season with SYREN.
