Kate Mehan St. Amand is a native of Connecticut and a graduate of SUNY Purchase. Kate trained at the Nutmeg Ballet while growing up in CT. It was at Nutmeg that she met Brian Simerson who introduced her to the Hawkins technique, and the big beautiful world of modern dance. Kate snuck around the empty studios of Nutmeg at night to make up dances, and dreamt of living in New York, having a company, and making bigger dances. She is so grateful to be living her dream every day. She has trained at The Erick Hawkins School, The Limon School, The Kirov Academy, and Hartford Ballet. She received composition training from Tarin Chaplin and Neil Greenberg, and thanks both artists for the gentle guidance and the strong and simple push to “make it more of what it is”. She thanks Lynn for traveling this journey together, her sister, Reba for being an inspiration, her parents for the never-ending love and encouragement, and her beautiful husband, Zach, for everything on earth.
