Kate
Mehan is originally from Connecticut where she trained
at The Nutmeg Ballet and went on to receive her B.F.A. in Dance
from S.U.N.Y. Purchase in 2002. Later that year, Ms. Mehan founded
SYREN alongside Lynn Peterson, and since then the company has
performed throughout the Northeast at the Jacob's Pillow Dance
Festival (Inside/Out Series), The Ailey Citigroup Theater, White
Plains Performing Arts Center, University Settlement, Whitewave,
The Remember Project, d.u.m.b.o. Arts Under the Bridge Festival,
Dogs Days of Dance Festival, SWEAT Outdoors Series, Choreographers'
Workshop, CT Meets NY Dance Fest, and Dansereye 3. Ms. Mehan has
served as Guest Faculty/Commissioned Choreographer at The
Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts, The Nutmeg Conservatory
for the Arts, and The Performing Arts Center of Connecticut. Ms.
Mehan lives in New York with the love of her life and looks forward
to a lifetime of making dances and performing worldwide. |
